Hunting Daze set in Quebec released in 2024
A Black Man is depicted positively and negatively. I didn't feel it was being anti-Black racist overall.
I felt that at some point that it spoke powerfully for the positive impact of multiculturalism on whites if they're open to it.
Therre were other aspects too like moments with a deer and later a wolf.

HOTEL AMERICA - André Téchiné (1981) - ★
---
Téchiné makes Téchiné without passion, at the level of a photo novel. Apart from a few interesting staging effects and curious ellipses, this kind of cinema is off-putting, and despite the best efforts of the two main actors, nothing can prevent it from sinking.
LOVE IS MY PROFESSION - Claude Autant-Lara (1958) ★★★
---
A film that chatters away and thrills thanks to the presence of its actors, even if Brigitte Bardot remains rather bland and unconvincing as a manipulative bitch. Classic staging, very static and situational, with an irritating soundtrack.

How do you say feel-good movie in French?

The Marching Band, Emmanuel Courcol
8/10
A GORGEOUS GIRL LIKE ME - François Truffaut (1972) ★★
---
A comedy with a play on temporality, sometimes grotesque, sometimes with naive situations. Some scenes are reminiscent of slapstick in many ways (acting, interior shots). Not a great movie, but Bernadette Laffont is impressive. A pleasure to see André Dussollier as a young actor. Great casting.
L'ODEUR DE LA MANDARINE - Gilles Legrand (2015) - ★⭑
---
Nice acting. But the whole thing seems quite extinguished, without strength or juice, in a fine, realistic but very sad light.
THE LIGHT - Philippe Lioret (2004) - ★★★
---
A movie that vibrates with the performance of its actors and its touching story. Beautiful images of the Mare lighthouse (in Brittany) at the center of the storm.
THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO - Robert Guédiguian (2011) - ★★★★
---
This drama is a celebration of beautiful, aptly expressed humanity, summoning emotions that swell the heart. The actors are magnificent. Robert Guédiguian's best, along with “Marius & Jeannette”.
NO LOVE LOST- - Erwan Le Duc (2023) ★
---
Offbeat and occasionally hollow to the point of cinephilic squinting, this film left me unsure of its intended direction. Boring.
