Pregnant feral rescue cat "Smudge" (at Tinykittens HQ in Canada) is in labor at the moment, and giving birth to her final litter of kittens (before they're all spayed/neutered too) -- live on their Youtube stream!
❗ The ongoing voiceover of rescuer Shelly Roche of TK is especially interesting to folks involved in cat rescue and cat fostering, for she talks about bloodtyping the kittens right after birth, to prevent a fatal condition called Neonatal Isoerythrolysis in the newborns.
This is caused by a mismatch of bloodtype of mama and kittens.

Das mag ein Osterfest werden!
This is going to be quite some Easter
And here were are. Five little ones: a solid black one, two brown-gray tabbies like Mom, and two blue-gray tabbies. The blue-gray ones remind me a lot of my Anastasia and Windsor. One of the brown-gray tabbies is a bit small, which is not totally out of the ordinary (queens can mate over the course of a few days, leading to kittens in the same litter being conceived a few days apart), but I’ll be keeping a close eye on that one. Mary is being a great mom, though with the casualness of someone who has done this before.
Honey, you’re gonna have to actually give birth at some point.
Still baking!
Mamacat Status: Still baking. The kittens (and maybe her, depending on temperament) are going to be at a cat cafe that’s part of a bookshop so I think I’ll do some classic author names for this batch. So here is Mary Shelley.
