I want an app for composing and posting long form text. Where I can choose where I want to post it, on a main feed or just into the feed for a group, and public-facing or just for the followers of that feed.

An app that can post to more than one fediverse account simultaneously (MissKey? Ghost? Lemmy? PieFed? All 4?), that would fit the bill.

But what if @Mastodon interpreted Followers-only as 'group(s)-only' when only groups @mentioned?

[Meta] Federation post

Post to federate this community across the Forumverse / Threadiverse. Sorry it's not a poll.

PrivacyGuides is testing ActivityPub federation on their Discourse forum 🎉

Discourse now supports ActivityPub as a method of accessing posts, and we’re testing this out with the General > News category and our announcements. You’ll be able to find out about Mastodon posts and even reply to posts from Mastodon and they’ll show up here!

Hint: If you have a Mastodon account, link it to your forum account at https://discuss.privacyguides.net/my/preferences/activity-pub. That way if you reply or like a post on Mastodon, it will perform the reply/like here with your forum account

See https://discuss.privacyguides.net/ap/about for details.

I'm going to try it with Mastodon later today. I'm not sure what the support with Lemmy will be like, but clicking on this link seems to at least load the community name / icon: [email protected]

Where to request inactive or unmoderated communities [List]

cross-posted from: https://sh.itjust.works/post/34579861

Most instances have a community where users can request the moderator role for inactive or unmoderated communities.

As each instance names these slightly differently, I thought I'd create a thread to collect as many as possible.

Please comment below with equivalent communities and I'll add them to the list.

Many people (myself included) have encountered federation issues with some moderation actions when using a remote account.

What should the subset of the Fediverse that is Lemmy + Mbin + PieFed be called?

Context: this community has flairs now! (also, PieFed recently added flair support! - they don't yet federate though, particularly with Lemmy that is lagging behind in features by comparison)

So what should the flair for this be called? Is Threadiverse too traumatic & tainted by association with Meta's (all but entirely defunct) Threads? Is The Verse too cool/poetic/nerdy (but niche) to be understood? I highly advise against Lemmyverse bc mainstream normal people are far less tolerant of tankies than we who are here are willing to put up with. Is Forumverse the least bad of the available options, or perhaps you have a better idea? 💡

In the spirit of inclusivity, and since flairs are expected to eventually federate to Lemmy (however many years it takes them to code that in Rust 😛), I am opening the poll to all instances.

Edit: apparently polls do not federate even in read-only mode, so I made a separate, normal discussion post. Edit 2: and oops, apparently editing a poll to say this erases all of the votes. Welp, we are learning!:-P Sorry about that!

What would a fediverse forum look like to you?

I know there are some out there, but I'm getting mixed signals about whether it's working or not. Anyone tried them?
