"Assuming they charge for the full month, and accounting for this server and the domain name, FluConf will have cost roughly USD 17.50. Judging from some of the memes currently circulating online, that's about the price of one egg in the USA."
😄
@fluconf But while you're waiting for the full article why not check out what @dentangle (who works on @librecast as well) created to open last year's @fluconf

I rarely use this account to promote things that are not directly related to the Interpeer Project, but this #FluConf article by @librecast's @dentangle is so much aligned with our own Values, I should have written it.

It's also why our projects are in close contact, and we're working on ways to collaborate as much as possible.

"la lune à bougé"
The moon is 5 times as far as it was in 2020. With the explosion of AI, we've missed our carbon moonshot targets.
Fascinating and thought-provoking talk and article by @Khrys at #FluConf #FluConf2025

Today, I'm taking part in #FluConf
through a translation of a conference given this autumn in French.
https://fluconf.online/sessions/techno-logy-luddism-feminism-and-what-about-ai-/
The style may seem a little odd, given that this is a text intended to be spoken in French - and some of the wordplay and phrasing may not go down very well (if you read French, you can always compare it to the original text :https://khrys.eu.org/conferences/luddisme/).
I'm already committed to attending #FOSDEM #FOSDEM2025 this year, but it will be quite funny if I stream a @fluconf talk while having lunch here :P

Sunday 15:00 UTC / 10am Eastern i'm giving a presentation for @fluconf
Scaling Community Conversations & Decision-making
https://agaric.coop/scaling-conversation-fluconf2025
Indeed i think i may be closing out #FluConf2025 and the topic is how do we communicate in and as a movement, so come crash the party and hijack the discussion portion of my talk to share what you thought of #FluConf and what if anything it should become— or more on topic, how we should stay in touch!
How can a group of thousands of people talk about and decide anything? How's this 'community' concept supposed to work at scale, even in theory? Any Free/Libre Open Source Software project will have elements of do-ocracy (rule of those who do the work), but not all decisions should devolve to implementors. A better ideal is that decisions should be made by the people who are most affected. Particularly when a decision strongly impacts more than those who carry it out, we need better ways of making decisions that give everyone their say. This starts by letting people by heard by everyone else. Fortunately, we can scale conversations and decisions in a fair and truly democratic way.
What a fantastic inaugural #FluConf Day 1! Such a diverse range of presentations, both in content and form.
A truly distributed conference, mostly self-hosted on static websites #PeerTube #Mastodon #Jitsi #BigBlueButton #OwnCast etc.
Thanks to @spectra for hosting our video for @librecast !
Looking forward to Day 2 of #FluConf2025
Merci @fluconf and everyone for getting involved !
