Jährlich am 8. März ist Internationaler Frauentag. Am 8. März 1908 demonstrierten Textilarbeiterinnen in New York für kürzere Arbeitszeiten, gerechtere Löhne, das Stimmrecht und ein Ende der Kinderarbeit. Frauen waren damals Männern gegenüber benachteiligt – und sie sind es nach wie vor in vielen Bereichen (z.B. bei der Entlohnung, der Kinderbetreuung oder bei der Aufteilung der unbezahlten Hausarbeit). Ziel der Frauenbewegung ist es, diese Ungleichheiten und Ungerechtigkeiten zu beseitigen.
