Review ⭐⭐⭐½ ᯓ ½ ✮

I'm not sure how many people are actually familiar with the original Faces of Death, but you should know that Daniel Goldhaber's new film acts less like an actual remake, and more like a meta commentary on remakes in general. Which is to say that you don't need to be familiar with the original movie in order to enjoy this new one.

A ★½ review of Faces of Death (2026)

The original movie was different in comparison to this remake, this is one of those "meta" movies like the Scream franchise! That and it looks like a generic slasher you have seen before! This is pretty cliché in comparison to the original movie. Had this movie been its own thing & not a remake, & not going the same meta route as The Human Centipede 2 & 3, the remake of The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Wes Craven's New Nightmare & the Scream franchise, it could have been decent. The one thing that kinda pissed me off was the line "Everybody loves a remake",

A ★★ review of Faces of Death (1978)

The movie was more impactful back then & not so much today in comparison considering there's the internet & gory content isn't really that taboo now as it was back then & it's more free & acceptable today. The only impact the movie still has is that there are some real stuff in it & some of that you can't really do today or you would be in trouble, most likely even getting sued (I'm suprised that the director didn't get sued for at least the plane crash part, which was a current event at the time).
