I went to see The Christophers this evening. I knew next to nothing about it, except that it starred Ian McKellen.

I thought it was brilliant. A witty, intelligent dissection of art and the art market, and the absurdities inherent in both.

Both McKellen and Michaela Cole were excellent. Even the presence of James Corden couldn't spoil it (though he was meant to be playing an obnoxious character, so maybe it helped).

Thoroughly recommended!

It's been a good day. I took delivery of some second-hand bookshelves in the morning, saw #TheChristophers at the Picture House in the afternoon, then sorted out the bookshelves in the evening. They have soaked up all my books, a rare equilibrium immediately threatened by the small amount of space left over.

Please don't let it start all over again.

Last weekend I saw Normal, You Me & Tuscany, and The Christophers. This week I saw Mother Mary. I just saw Exit 8 and I'm in the theater waiting to see Mile End Kicks. So far I liked all the movies I've listed.

Normal is really fun with good action and jokes. It's a little more gruesome than I thought. The Christophers was terrific! Great performance from Michaela Coel who is also very good in Mother Mary. Exit 8 was really cool too.
