In #electrodialysis, "the membranes are arranged in such a way that the #water flows along them. On both sides of those membranes are positive and negative electrodes that create an electric field, which draws salt ions through the membranes and out of the water."

The system adjusts the flow rate of the water and the power applied to the electrodes to match the available solar power, no batteries needed.
