March 9, 2023 "We spoke with a representative of DuckDuckGo, and they said they're using OpenAI's GPT-3.5 and Anthropic's Claude as LLMs. "We're experimenting with OpenAI's recently announced Turbo model, too," they said."
ars addresses many potential problems about DuckDuckGo using this software.
No turning AI results off. DDG is deeply into it already. #Codswallop
For everyone wanting to further their adventure into open source, i highly recommend you give Searx a try.
Especially if you're tired of people claiming they are on your side, when they really are bad actors.
Searx is fully open source and does not steal your data. Much like mastodon there are lots of instances around. They respect your privacy.
#duckduckgo #DuckDuckNo hot take: its not good there's a niche for Microsoft trackers or trackers in DDG but I think fool me once is forgiveable and will be about how DDG responds to the public over this.
All these apps are subject to humans and money running them because that's what makes it sustainable and work.
Reminder there is Searx.
Example: https://search.anchovies.pizza/
But you own the system admin, app, accessibility, etc for it.
@kev @StartpageSearch Incredibly disappointed when I heard about this myself. It was the final push I needed to switch away seeing as my DDG results have been lacklustre anyway, ignoring this scummy behaviour. I can guarantee this is happening outside the DDG browser, how could it not when that’s the contract with Bing.
