Mostly degradations occurred in parts of the East Coast states. Mixed conditions occurred elsewhere in the Lower 48. Improvements occurred in Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

For the 50 states and Puerto Rico, the US Drought Monitor shows 40.8% in moderate drought or worse, compared to 39.15% last week.
After a dry week, drought worsened across the continental US with no areas of improvement on the US Drought Monitor. Drought covers 46.6% of the nation, a jump of 2.07 points from last week.
Due to the low snowpack in the West, a stretch of the North Platte River in Wyoming has restrictions on diversions, and Colorado's Frisco Bay Marina expect slips and the boat ramp to be closed over the summer.
In January, dryness and drought intensified in parts of the South and Southeast, while snow drought threatened runoff in the West.
