A few of the exhibited art pieces are made by a sculptor based in Kyoto, Midori Kashiwagi, with whom I met eight years ago. In early May, I was devastated to learn that she passed away unexpectedly. She had been so nice to me and such an inspiration for me ever since I first applied to join Soukei-ten and my art piece had been chosen for the exhibition. I will never forget her steadfast support for me and will continue to do my best as ever.
June has come now but I’d like to write about the trip to Tokyo I made last month: On 21st May (Thurs.), I flew to Tokyo to see the 71st Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. During my stay in the city, friends and relatives visited me, and I had such a lovely opportunity to chat with visitors who took interest in my art pieces, and catching up with other artists exhibiting there.

As 18th May was the last day of the 49th Annual Exhibition of the Kyoto Sculptors Association, I went to Kyoto to bring my sculptures back. Great to have a lovely banter with other artists taking part in the exhibition.
The exhibition was finished at 5pm. We packed and brought the sculptures back to Okayama by car.
This month, I will exhibit my previous and new works at the 49th Annual Exhibition of the KYOTO Sculptors Association, and the 70th Annual Exhibition of Soukei-ten, respectively at Kyoto Prefectural Center for Arts and Culture, and Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno.

The weather is gradually getting warmer. While I’m still exhibiting my work at the 8th Annual Open-Air Sculptural Exhibition at Kyoto INSHO-DOMOTO Museum of Fine Arts, I’d like to announce that I am also going to join two other exhibitions very soon!

Walking around a city for the first time in ages made us almost dizzy, but we managed to arrive at the Oji Branch Haradanomori Gallery of Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art, just in time for the beginning of the award ceremony. After the ceremony, I had such a lovely time chatting with other artists interested in my art pieces.
