On February 27, we successfully organized the first ReBone Dissemination Workshop in Novara, hosted by one of the universities of our consortium, Università degli Studi del Piemonte Orientale. The event represented an important opportunity to share and discuss the scientific activities carried out within the project.

During the workshop, our Doctoral Candidates presented the progress of their research projects, showcasing methodologies, results, and future perspectives. The programme also included a lively round-table discussion, encouraging a constructive dialogue among researchers and partners. Experts from diverse fields – from regulatory-driven medical device innovation to orthopaedic and trauma surgery, and clinical computational biomechanics – offered a valuable chance to explore clinical perspectives, enhancing ReBone’s impact and translational potential. We would like to sincerely thank the invited speakers - Prof. Elizaveta Kon, Dr. Rainer Mittermayr, Prof. Nico Verdonschot, and Prof. Michael Gasik - for their valuable contributions and inspiring discussions.

Special thanks go to our project coordinator, Prof. Pasquale Vena, for his continuous support to the project, and to Prof. Lia Rimondini for the excellent organization of the workshop, which greatly contributed to the success of the event.

This workshop marked an important step in promoting knowledge sharing and strengthening collaboration across the ReBone consortium!

Dialogue is key for PhD success! Ulkrike Lohmann, Vice President for Doctoral Studies, emphasizes the need for consistent annual status conversations with doctoral candidates to ensure clear communication and proactive support. #DoctoralCandidates #AcademicCareer https://ethz.ch/staffnet/en/news-and-events/internal-news/archive/2025/05/vice-president-ulrike-lohmann-we-owe-our-doctoral-candidate-a-dialogue.html
“We owe our doctoral candidates a dialogue”

The annual status conversations are still not taken seriously enough in doctoral studies, says Ulrike Lohmann, Vice President for Doctoral Studies, with reference to the survey of mid-career faculty. Overall, however, she gives a positive interim assessment of the implementation of the new doctoral regulations.
