So, my recent toots have been leading up to this a little. Side scrollers, difficulty, that one [redacted] achievement.

Mickey's Dangerous Chase on the #GameBoy was a rough ride. Mechanically similar to Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers on NES. Jumping and yeeting boxes. But there is something quite sinister in the game design here.

Mickey has a surprising horizontal leap. Frequently, you will come across gaps where you question if you can make that jump. But some are very edge to edge jumps.

Tricky platforming aside, the auto-scrolling levels can be downright malicious. Especially the last two. One of them requires you to hang back till the last few seconds for the platform in front of you to appear, for a seemingly impossibly wide jump.

This game certainly is a dangerous chase. The title is an apt warning. But despite the comments I saw on this game, like SNES DOOM, I didn't come out hating this is the end.

I promise I will move my general gaming talk away from the shadow of the House of Mouse.

But I keep noticing things that I want to talk about and inadvertently play.

Donald Duck has a lot of retro games, doesn't he? I mean, it's not on par with the Mouse himself, but it is still... A surprising number of games where he features.

I already spoke about Quackshot, which is a great game.
But there is also Lucky Dime Caper and Deep Duck Trouble on Master System
Going Quackers on... Basically, everything at the time.

The ones I am quite interested in are the Maui Mallard games, which I remember seeing when I was a kid. But I never played them.

I will try not to have my entire 2025 be a Disney Game fest. But this mouse hole is deep and cavernous...

So, on my radar at the moment are the Disney Magical Quest games.

Yes, I said games. I never realised there were sequels to The Magical Quest starring Mickey Mouse, two in fact.

I had an American copy of the first game, acquired from the same place we got Space Megaforce/Super Aleste.

I remember the game having some degree of early challenge. I recall a specific sub boss required either getting enough coins for an expensive upgrade or near perfect management of the magical energy for the one costume you have.

That being said, I was a stupid kid when I played this game last. So maybe there was something obvious I was missing.

This year is shaping up to be a bit of a Disney-centric gaming year... And I am not complaining about that, the 16-bit era gave us a bunch of really good Disney Games.
