Archive Prints fabric collection by Dedar

Dezeen Showroom: informed by collections of historic fabrics, the Archive Prints collection by Dedar reinterprets traditional textile design from both eastern and western cultures.

Dedar's Archive Prints aims to bring together historic motifs from Europe, Asia and the Middle East, such as paisley and stripes, into one cohesive collection.

The collection includes both sheer and delicate wool and wool satin textiles, as well as more robust woven fabrics.

John Kelly 1763 is a light, sheer fabric and comes in four playful colourways

Among the lighter fabrics is John Kelly 1763, which was inspired by late 18th century English archival fabric.

The fabric is made up of natural wool fibre, which allows it to "confer a soft feel and a light flexuous drape" making it ideal for curtains and drapery.

Paradiso Paisley comes in green, red and blue as well as a sheer wool satin version

Heavier coverings include Paradiso Paisley, which takes cues from the "reverse side of an archive Paisley shawl".

The woven material is designed to be durable, which makes it suitable for both curtain and upholstery applications.

Dedar suggests that the collection examines and reinterprets "great fabric archetypes to give new lymph to the ancient trading tradition".

Erbaluce fabric collection by Dedar

Dezeen Showroom: Italian textile brand Dedar has launched Erbaluce, a fabric collection that translates contemporary patterns via traditional Jacquard weaving techniques.

The Erbaluce family, which forms part of Dedar's Contemporary Archives collection, encompasses three different blurred camouflage patterns that can be applied to both curtains and upholstery.

The material is available in three colourways

"The camouflage pattern discovers a new dimension and encounters the tapestry tradition in a motif that is both figurative and abstract," Dedar said.

Erbaluce comes in three distinct colourways, incorporating neutral and earthy tones in varying levels of saturation.

Each is made from five different coloured threads

Each fabric is made from five different coloured threads that are woven together using a Jacquard loom, incorporating a mix of techniques and references.

"Their connective thread is the union between a lively personality and great textile know-how," said the brand.

The fabric collection includes Volver, which is made using the traditional technique brocatelle. Above image: Andirivieni

Among the collection is a double-faced fabric called Andirivieni, which uses contrasting colours to create an abstract representation of maps.

Andirivieni is available in six colour combinations and its "dual personality has a lively spirit and is traversed by a subtle sense of play," said Dedar.

The Geometrics patterns collection is suited for upholstery and curtains

Volver is a patterned fabric made from the traditional technique brocatelle, which creates a relief intended to highlight the contrast between matt and lustrous threads.

Another fabric in the collection is Regimential, which has a striped pattern that references British school uniforms.

"Reginaldo is rigorous in its lines yet bright in its contrasting colours, endowed with an exuberant and comfortable spirit," said the brand.

Like other fabrics in the collection, Zai Saman feautures geometric lines and patterns.

Bouclé textile collection by Dedar

Dezeen Showroom: Italian textile brand Dedar has launched its Bouclé collection, which includes versions of the warm, textural fabric that are fire retardant or suitable for the outdoors.

The fabrics in Dedar's Bouclé collection all have the soft, knotted textures typical of bouclé but feature different characteristics, colours and materials.

The Bouclé collection includes Karakorum, a wool-viscose blend that is especially hardwearing

"The unevenness of bouclé thread ripples and enlivens the surface and constitutes a precious element of the fabric nature while conferring a vivid personality and an ever-diversified character," said Dedar.

Materials featured in the Bouclé collection include wool, alpaca, linen, and cotton. Some fabrics have been treated to be fire retardant, while others are suitable for outdoor use.

There is also Lupo, which is fire-retardant and durable

The collection includes Nimbus, an almost cloud-like wool bouclé that is ultra-soft and warm to the touch.

Also included is Karakorum, a wool and viscose blend that is hardwearing enough to withstand intensive use, and Lupo, a fire-retardant and durable fabric that still feels soft and luxurious.

The Art of Jacquard textile collection by Dedar

**Dezeen Showroom: **Italian textile manufacturer Dedar has launched a range of fabrics called The Art of Jacquard, which is distinguished by its vivid colours and graphic motifs.

The Art of Jacquard collection comprises a series of rich, paradisiacal patterns realised with the help of ultra-thin yarns that are woven directly into the material, as opposed to being embroidered, printed or stamped onto the fabric.

Dedar's This Must Be The Place fabric can be used to upholster furniture (top and above)

Among the textiles in the collection is This Must Be The Place, which features tropical birds and botanical motifs alongside abstract architectural forms created by French illustrator duo Icinori.

The design is created by interlacing 160 threads per centimetre using four wefts, one of which has a metallic effect.

The Dalie Papaveri Tulipani fabric features a repeating pattern of abstracted flowers

Another design, called Dalie Papaveri Tulipani, features an abstract floral landscape, which resembles the reverse side of jacquard fabric.

Suitable for use on both curtains and seating, Dedar's Be Bop A Lula fabric evokes warm summer nights on a Pacific island, with its repeating pattern of palm trees in an array of playful colours.

The Intarsiato fabric has a three-dimensional geometric pattern

Another highlight, the Intarsiato jacquard weave, is composed of alternating matt and metallic yarns that come together to create a three-dimensional zig-zag pattern, designed to resemble inlays of ebony and mother-of-pearl.
