Dezeen Showroom: Portuguese furniture brand Hommés Studio has created a sunbed named Tropez Daybed, which is informed by the vibrancy of the French coastal town Saint-Tropez.

The reclining daybed was designed to provide a comfortable place to relax outdoors while being a luxurious and modern piece of furniture.

The Fern version of Tropez has a retro fabric pattern

"Tropez Daybed is characterised by a strong minimalistic approach to summer living codes that exudes luxury and sophistication through its natural, seductive shapes," said Hommés Studio.

The daybed is available in three versions, including in a retro fern pattern fabric with a cream-painted frame and gold polished brass fixings.

The reclining daybed aims to exude the luxury of Saint-Tropez

The black and white striped model is upholstered in outdoor leather and features a wenge wood frame with gold polished stainless steel fixings, intended to be a modern addition to outdoor spaces.

Additionally, Hommés Studio provides a customisation service where users can opt for the daybed to be upholstered in a wide range of fabrics to suit any outdoor area.

4PM chaise longue by Massproductions

Dezeen Showroom: as part of Stockholm Design Week 2022, Swedish brand Massproductions is presenting a lounge chair made from laminated wood that provides comfort without the need for upholstery.

The 4PM chaise longue is available in two types of wood, including a warm-toned Douglas fir and a slightly darker cherry wood, as well as in a self-build version that pays homage to the work of Italian designer Enzo Mari.

4PM combines curved and flat elements to create a comfortable seat

"The chaise is a combination of curved and flat parts, and has been designed to provide the best possible comfort," said Massproductions.

"From above, the profile of 4PM tapers towards the footrest, which enables the feet to fall comfortably on both sides – something that also simplifies getting in or out."

Its footrest can double up as a side table

The chaise longue has a raised footrest that can double up as a seat or side table, while an adjustable headrest provides the only bit of cushioning.

Following in the footsteps of Enzo Mari's seminal Autoprogettazione collection of self-assembly furniture, Massproductions has also released instructions and drawing for how to build a simplified version of the design from scratch using materials found at any hardware store.

4PM is made from wood with upholstery limited to a cushioned headrest

"You may not be able to afford 4PM," said the brand's chief designer Chris Martin. "But with instructions, you can make your own and get the luxury of the chaise longue without the luxurious price tag."

The product was launched during a pared-back version of Stockholm Design Week, which is taking place in venues throughout the Swedish capital until 13 February 2022 before returning in September to coincide with the postponed Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.

Baza Lounge outdoor seating by Studio Segers for Todus

Dezeen Showroom: Belgium-based Studio Segers has created four curved seating designs as part of its Baza Lounge collection for outdoor furniture company Todus.

The Baza Lounge collection consists of a club and a lounge chair as well as a daybed and swing, all distinguished by a generous, circular seat.

The circular daybed is covered in comfy, weather-resistant cushions

Sturdy, powder-coated stainless steel was used for the elegantly rounded frames, which are topped with large cushions.

These are covered in a water-resistant outdoor fabric that comes in a variety of colours including pale grey and pink, and filled with a quick-dry foam so they can remain outside even in rough weather.

The seating designs have a round seat

Baza Lounge was designed as a follow-up to Studio Segers' Baza modular outdoor sofa for Todus, with the aim of creating an outdoor seating series that offers the same comfort and aesthetics as indoor designs.

"It thus brings even greater joy of spending one's leisure time outdoors," Todus said of the collection.

The four-piece collection was designed to be combined together with the modular sofa to create a matching outdoor set.
