I finished Nabokov's "Pnin" last night.
What a delight it was! Funny, clever, and oddly moving.
I would recommend getting hold of the Everyman's Library edition, as the introduction by David Lodge is both informative and perceptive.

David Lodge -- whom I sadly never got the opportunity to interview or meet -- has passed. I ADORED his hilarious novels -- especially the Campus Trilogy. (One of his great jokes is the game of Humiliation in CHANGING PLACES.) There was a warmth and an empathy behind his often razor-sharp wit. I honestly found his academic satires more enjoyable than Kingsley Amis. This guy was SO underrated. RIP Mr. Lodge, and thanks.
My favorite author has now died. I recommend all his novels, which are mostly comedies that treat their characters well.
