New #Cyclewellington campaign launched for the remaining section of shared path of old Hutt road in #wellington, which pending the completion of #TeAraTupua to #Petone will see a massive increase in use early in 2026 https://www.cyclewellington.org.nz/new_old_hutt_road_path

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, I think drivers are becoming more courteous towards cyclists. It could be the better weather, or just the increased numbers comes with increased awareness.

The result is the same. I feel safer.

That was an interesting lunch ride into town. I saw a truck driver texting as he pulled up to a T intersection that I was passing, a bus hit the bike lane separator, a meals for wheels van park on the footpath / bike lane, was wondering if they saw me or if I was about to get doored. In the bright side there were more bikes than cars heading down Bowen Street with me. #wellington #cyclewellington #biketooter

what a lovely day to ride your bike to the shop

I don't think #lgwm has a bold enough vision for the Wellington Golden Mile. This looks way better. #CycleWellington

absolutely sick and tired of dangerous overtakes

#CycleWellington

Love the new cycle ways—they're what emboldened me to get a bike, after all—but I can't help but feel in their current state they're designed for you to ride the whole length for fun without a destination in mind. When you get off there's rarely anywhere safe to lock your bike, and at the Newtown end you're thrown into a 40k zone with the worst traffic lights and most aggressive driving in the whole city.

Hey #CycleWellington, how do I avoid all the bloody traffic lights? Is there an around route I can take to get to, say, Aro Valley, without having to mix with all the car through-traffic?
