Bluebead or Corn lily (Clintonia borealis). This Genus, Clintonia, is named in honor of New York governor Dewitt Clinton (1769 –1828) who is credited with being the visionary that led to the construction of the Erie Canal.

A large number of insects utilize the flowers of this species including butterflies, bees, ants and beetles. Dark blue berries, giving rise to the common name blue bead lily, will follow the yellow flowers and are quickly eaten by birds and mammals.
