I love it on the inside and from the outside but I think the entrances are sub-optimal and the public space outside is a little too windswept (but work well for protests and things like Donna Summer rollerskate party) The #CopSlide is the best thing Boston has done this century

I do live in Boston, Boston educated engineer and I can break down the physics of the cop in the cop slide

  • First and most importantly, the City of Boston always designated the slide “FOR CHILDREN ONLY” because adults have more mass and momentum
  • Cop was face down. No damping from shoes. You’re supposed to SIT in a slide even a child knows this
  • Cops have vests with low friction coefficient because they’re bulletproofish plastic or whatever tf.
  • Cop threw himself down the slide face down for an initial velocity because he was fucking around

    #LastWeekTonight is back, yay, and in their strike-hiatus recap, shouted out to the "single best movie of the summer": Cop Slide. I couldn't find a clip of John Oliver's segment, but it hits all the essentials: the Phil Collins remix (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9FnUcyQX_s), the presence of Cop Slide on Google Maps, the many Dunkin outlets in the immediate vicinity - "Boston, you truly are a self-parody."

    #404media FOIA'ed the city about the #CopSlide viral video in #Boston, and got a response, summarized in the below article.

    tldr: The officer hit his head and arm. Boston PD asserts that there's no bodycam footage, despite several officers standing around laughing, but 404 media is appealing as the video shows someone possibly filming with their phone's camera.
