Veteran oak tree, with some possibly unnecessary extra support. Given time and space oaks like this will put their limbs down to the ground to use as supports in old age. However this one probably receives too much attention as it is the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest, which receives a massive amount of visitors and has had to be fenced off to deter visitors from getting too close and damaging the thing they have come to see. #conservationchallenges #thicktrunktuesday #woodland #trees
