22.08.25: A Mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia) and a common hazel (Corylus avellana) near an almost vertical steep precipice on the edge of our meadow. Wooden slats from our former fence are visible near the gorge.
It is very interesting how the rowan tree partially in the air clings itself to the slope.
Just short of the edge and a bit more.

You probably know what a hazelnut is. Well, I found quite a few common hazel shrubs today. Those yellow male catkins are conspicuous – the red female flowers are not. The common hazel is wind-pollinated, and it blooms very early in spring. I have looked for ripe nuts once or twice in autumn, but squirrels and jays have beat me to them.
