A close friend is looking for a new #job in the #USA. She's now in the 2nd of 6 #selection rounds. It appears to me that in the last few years the #testing #culture in the USA has reached new heights.

Whatever is measured there: in the end using standardized #knowledge tests on many people results in finding the person that best fits the #test, a #commoditized #specialist.

How many tests would it take for finding the right #generalist for a yet unknown solution space? #assessment

Profiting off of the social interactions between people is...

Disgusting.

It's also a sign of #capitalism hitting it's end stage.

When everything must be #commoditized, and nothing can exist without a return on investment.

Imagine if a corporation was able to make a profit off of something like a parent teaching their child how to speak, or a dad giving their kid advice? How gross does that sound?

And yet, we have dootbook and birbsite basically doing that.

And, now, we have people discussing how to do the same here, in the #fediverse.

Just fucking gross, and stop it.
