@bocvip The fact that the effect of #microplastics on the human #health is being researched upon now, instead of doing so when it was invented and #commercialized is shocking from my perspective. I have abetted usage of the same for years - the packaging of spices I intake, the bottle I use, the packet of milk I buy...

The issue here is that basic products are packed in #plastic

Impact of Microplastics and Nanoplastics on Human Health

Plastics have enormous impacts to every aspect of daily life including technology, medicine and treatments, and domestic appliances. Most of the used plastics are thrown away by consumers after a single use, which has become a huge environmental problem ...

as much as I support the #progress #leftists are making towards being #bodypositive, there is still a hard limit evident in which forms of #bodypositivity are considered #capitalism friendly--mostly things involving #fatPhobia, which IS important, I'm not denying that. however, there are many other body parts that don't get the same commercial-friendly normalization--because they're harder to sell to consumers, I guess. very rarely you might see an ad campaign featuring people with #vitiligo, #amputees and other #disabilities etc, but it's always done as a one-off PR stunt, not sustained awareness and destigmatizion of bodies that look like that. and I have NEVER, EVER seen an ad campaign to normalize #acne especially #adultAcne or #acneScars, unless it's to sell something that allegedly prevents or heals acne. trust me, some of us have tried all that, and it still doesn't work. rather than shame the millions of people who deal with these kinds of things, isn't it way past time to normalize them, too? (at least socially, by calling out #bodyshaming for more than just being #plusSize or #curvy - - capitalism will follow once they decide it's more profitable to pretend to support it, just as they're starting to do in fat-centric body positive campaigns.)

#introduction time, so a little about me.

My name is #Carlos and I live in #Boston, but originally from #California. I miss home for sure, but #NewEngland seasons are amazing.

I'm a #mentalhealth #advocate, in large part because I have experienced firsthand the benefits of #therapy, and have found strength in my vulnerability. I'm a #husband, #father, #girldad, #entrepreneur and #mexicanamerican #latinx.

I’ve worked in #digitalhealth #healthcare #lifesciences for 20+ years and am passionate about how the heck things are #priced, #commercialized and lead to #socialimpact.

I absolutely love to #meditate, #bike around town, and read paper #books. There’s something about flipping through pages that makes it easier to breathe, and settle into a story.

I included my 'professional" photo that I use on #LinkedIn :) and my LI profile is here:
