The #deficit view is biased toward 1-on-1 interactions & comparisons, the norm for professional evaluation. However, from a species-wide perspective, the view is clearly #co-evolutionary. This nonlinear model shows us the power of diverse #harmony, clustering into cooperating relationships.
“Many contemporary #socialscience approaches ignore the #coevolutionary framework, instead focusing too much on linear regressions. Our world is better understood through #complex #reciprocal #interactions.” (More from the #BrianKlaas piece on #coevolution) open.substack.com/pub/briankla...

Previously it was mostly used in conjunction with #parsimony/cost-based approaches, but we combined it with #model-based approaches. More specifically with the model-based approach in the program ALE, which was succesfully used by Sattler et al. (2019) to "Inferring processes of #coevolutionary #diversification in a community of Panamanian strangler #figs and associated pollinating #wasps": https://doi.org/10.1111/evo.13809
