On likes, reposts, and bookmarks

I received a nice email this week asking about my use of likes and bookmarks: how do I use them, and how are they different? The email made me realize I haven't been very consistent about my usage. Here's the mental model I have for them, and how I plan to use them from now onwar…

Conferencing in Zaragoza this week: #Complenet26 is happening and I get to hear a lot about #graphs, #hypergraphs contagions and hopefully also about face-to-face #interactions .
My poster (and accepted paper and (more importantly) chapter of my thesis) is exploratory work using the concept of social fluidity on interaction data of playing children.

In conversation with other #UX practitioners, I often lament that fundamental #CogSci expertise is missing in most of our craft's public discourse. An example for that are the Gestalt Laws, such as figure/ground in this video.

Someone designing human-computer #interactions absolutely must understand these principles, even if they don't know their formal names. Judging from the average software UI shipping these days, alas, it's not taught and/or valued nearly enough.

An interesting summary from the editor:

"AlphaFold’s success in protein structure predictions has led to similar attempts to predict interactomes. Here, the authors demonstrate that AI-based screens are very limited in discovering truly novel interactions compared to experimental screens, exposing open challenges in interaction prediction."
