Teachers — as you prepare for fall, the ocean is in the headlines: marine heatwaves, microplastics, rising seas. WAVE 4000 is a free classroom resource connecting these real events to discussion, critical thinking & action. Based on the YA novel Fingerprints In The Water. 🌊

My first ever international key note speech will be tomorrow morning at 4.20 Finnish time / 11.20 Korean time! I will be talking online, and the actual speech is recorded - but I will be waking up and join the live conversation at 4.45. I do not expect any friends or colleagues in Finland to watch, but if someone closer to Korean time zone is interested, please feel free to watch the YouTube stream: https://youtube.com/live/kElEYlBIKrE?feature=share There are many other interesting presentations in the program as well.

P.S. I did not claim to be a professor - on the contrary, I quite clearly wrote on my bio that I am a university lecturer. 😆

Just discovered New York Times' resources for teaching climate change. Probably most appropriate for high school and above, there are some lesson ideas connected to their reporting on issues such as climate anxiety, interpreting climate data, and understanding extreme weather events. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/04/learning/lesson-plans/resources-for-teaching-about-climate-change-with-the-new-york-times.html @climateed @edutooters #ClimateEd
Resources for Teaching About Climate Change With The New York Times

Dozens of resources to help students understand why our planet is warming and what we can do to stop it.

For the past decade much of our team's R&D effort has gone into infrastructuring social change-making with open education resources promoting equity and justice. Resources are collaboratively designed by researchers, educators & community members to support needed ideational, material & political shifts to #SciEd & #ClimateEd. They get used by ed implementation projects to promote liberatory goals.

Excited to engage with others here! Here's an #Introduction

I'm a social science researcher engaging in design research and ethnography to promote equity and justice through #ClimateEd and #SciEd. Most of our current projects are broad scale networks collaborating to: build capacity, support implementation & develop open resources others can use.
