The idea of social justice and human rights and basic needs isn’t about 'left' vs. 'right'—it's about aligning human (and natural) systems with reality itself. That and reality inevitably reveals the true 'evils' and root issues of our world.
'Material conditions push history leftward', 'the march of progress moves left', 'reality has a progressive bias'. What's the other phrase, 'the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice'. Progress, it's called. Forward movement. Energy. Momentum. Force of nature (gravity, pull, inevitability). Enlightenment, enlargement (of the mind). Growth (the good kind).
Not growth and "progress" the bad kind and things like superiority, manifest destiny, the American dream, the economy, the 'free' market, free from control.
The conservatives and capitalists who fight social justice, human rights, and basic human needs, often aren’t fighting against or just a political ideology, but against the growing awareness of how harm operates in the world.
The exploitation and oppression and suppression (and even 'prevention') of nature, both 'wild' and human. The rulers of the world resist this awareness because it threatens power structures and the status quo, suppresses profits (money/freedom) or prophets/power (god/Elon and other 'tech gods', and freedom to rule)—both ironically evil—or challenges personal worldviews (e.g. christian nationalists, techno-capitalists, etc).
Money a.k.a. freedom, and power... that's what it's always been about. The freedom of the powerful over the freedom of (and over) the vulnerable. The claim to superiority. Those who depict themselves as 'superior': dominant authoritative wealthy white masculine conservative christian land-owner business-owner enslaver men (I probably still missed some).
But reality doesn’t care—it merely continues forever, with or without us, revealing itself, piece by piece, place by place, moment by moment. Liberating itself.
Is this perhaps the theory of everything?
Nature to instinct to behavior to codes to norms to ethics to laws to #Justice to #CivilJustice to #SocialJustice to #HumanRights to #EnvironmentalJustice to #TotalLiberation.
