I went and did a Solstice survey, but now I can't get the data off the data collection device. Worried I may have accidentally deleted it and will need to do another survey. I worried about this last time I did a survey and it wasn't the case, but I can't help freaking out a bit. Especially since the guy who helped me last time is out in the field right now. /grump

Now that I have successfully applied labels and assigned a datum to my surveyed surface, I'm going to try to combine two surfaces! Le gasp! Wish me luck!

spent hours wondering why my contour labels weren't showing up, only to realize that the labels layer was turned off

So my coworker came by and was like I heard you were having trouble with CAD? And I was like, I can't get the lines for my proposed surface to render. Open the layers, he said. I open the layers. We scroll down to the proposed surface layer.

It was set to "do not print."

Not enough faces. Not enough palms.

Some days it seems #Civil3D was designed to make simple grading appear possible, then prevent the user from doing it.

Me to coworker: So, the update on the problem I was asking you for help with? I fixed it. I don't know how, and it doesn't make sense, but it's working.

Coworker: That's CAD in a nutshell!

Proud of myself for asking for help from a coworker this morning. It's what we're supposed to do but I hate it. I like getting into my own zone and doing everything by myself. But, can't do that when I don't know everything.

Anyway the thing I got helped with is changing the starting station of an alignment in #CAD, after the alignment has already been made.

Now, to figure out how to switch the labels from one side of a profile view to the other side.

Having a ~lolsob~ moment at work:

Since yesterday I've been trying to copy-paste a portion of a #CAD drawing I did from drawing A into drawing B. In both A and B, the line segments I was copying were in a particular layer. The thing is, I had that layer disabled in B, so as soon as I pasted it, it would disappear. I was so confused. I forgot I disabled that layer. Then I enabled that layer in Drawing B, and I had about 30 different versions of my fence lines superimposed 😭 😭 😭

Having some early #GIS victories today. Append! Intersect! Now hopefully I can have similar results with #CAD #Civil3D

Anyone know anyone in Hamilton area with Civil CAD skills? We are looking!
