It's plausible that parts of the Sierra west slope and crest could see one of their top 5 snowiest 1-2 day periods on record with inbound Fri-Sat storm. That's pretty extraordinary given the very slow start to snow season in many spots. Quite some whiplash! #CAwx #CAsnow https://t.co/cavqRxCj5J

Let's try this again with errors fixed! A massive storm expected tomorrow into Sunday should bring 7-9 feet of #snow and we think it's a good time to look at the snowiest days that have occurred here! If the forecast is accurate and it verifies, we could have a new number 1!

With temperatures 🌡️☀️ warming above average into next week, we are expecting snowmelt ❄️and resulting river flows to begin increasing. Here are our deterministic and ensemble forecasts at a few #Sierra 🏔️basins showing the potential for higher river flows. #CAwx #CAwater #CAsnow
California's snowpack, the deepest on record in more than 70 years, contains about 30 million acre-feet of water (more water than Lake Mead), per the Los Angeles Times analysis of snow sensor data. ❄️💧

California’s snowpack is the deepest in 70 years

The snowpack is so deep that it currently contains roughly 30 million acre-feet of water — more water than Lake Mead, the nation's largest reservoir.

Now also hearing reports of extreme snowfall-related emergencies in higher mountains of SoCal (as well as NorCal). Some folks have been trapped in their homes for days, some without electricity, & there are also reports of structural collapses due to snow loading. #CAwx #CAsnow

Well, I think this is one prediction that ended up pretty close to reality, given the often spectacular images and footage that emerged from late last week into this weekend (including in SoCal!). #CAwx #CAsnow
