Photo of me, taken by Richard Youell, from Heart of Noise Cambridge 14 on 18 January 2026: Final edition of my event for a while... it would turn 2 in 3 days. This was/is a bi-monthly live electronics event series for leftfield electronic music. Due to financial difficulties -not having any funding vs. growing costs- it became difficult to run it, alongside commitments in London. But it was such a joy and I’ve learnt so much from and through it, both as a performer and curating/hosting it.
I am not a promoter AT ALL: I was just trying to create a performance space for those with genuine interest and enthusiasm. One of my starting points was being fed up with seeing almost all the time similar artists and booking agents taking things over, not leaving space for others. Didn’t want to fall into despair and tried to create this space as a result, in association with the artist program of the venue (Troop, Cambridge Junction) I also wanted to make it a bit different from plug-play no PA spaces: I wanted to make it professional, with DIY spirit, with a professional team of duty managers, box office, and very good sound engineers in Cambridge Junction. But this is not easy.
Each edition featured a rich lineup of brilliant artists, both local and international. I did use it as an excuse to perform myself, both solo and in collab settings. Hope to be able to arrange a no.15 at some point but that looks difficult for near future.
Hope to find a good time to migrate some of Heart of Noise content from centralised platforms. For now, please have a look at the website and YT channel to enjoy performance videos or listen to the Fundraiser album with excerpts from some of the performances on bandcamp. https://heartofnoisecambridge.wordpress.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@HeartOfNoiseCambridge
