If you get a chance to see #BurneyFalls in Lassen - it’s great.

The area lava strata is filled with snowmelt from the peaks and releases a steady flow of ~100,000,000 gallons daily. The water shoots out from between the rock layers.

On a hot 90° day the water is maybe 50°, so it’s misty and cool.

McArthur-Burney Falls Creek

I recently drove up to the northeastern corner of California as it is one part of the state I hadn't visited yet. About an hour east of Redding is McArthur-Burney State Park with of course the McArthur-Burney Falls.
This is the creek that runs below the falls. It is an early autumn capture and so some of the trees are starting to turn colors.

McArthur-Burney Falls

This beautiful waterfall is located north east of Redding California in the Cascade Range.
The park and surrounding area's geology was created mainly by volcanic activity in the area over thousands of years.
There are many layers of rock, some porous and some not. As the rain in the area seeps into the ground the water flows through the porous layers as seen here: See the full image here: https://fineartamerica.com/featured/mcarthur-burney-falls-bill-gallagher.html?newartwork=true #AYearForArt #BillGallagherPhotography #BurneyFalls
