The live part of FossFEST winter 2025 is done, over 570 registered participants have joined the call for open source. Currently, about 200 students are developing several #foss projects, either #Ubuntu #Touch or #OCA. We are currently processing the 15 hours of video that we recorded, which we will publish in the coming days. Thanks #BSBI for this wonderful collaboration. #opensource #open-source #education

This looks like a Thimbleberry, a North American plant, and is quite prolific on parts of the Union Canal. Some may be able to better identify it. #bsbi

This was a new one on me (maybe new to the area? TF1601), spotted as I walked past it: Common fiddleneck, a rather scratty-looking thing with long stems and tiny yellow flowers. It gets its name from the coiled flowerheads.

It's as well that I'm used to getting funny looks for taking photos (both geology and wildflowers) where people don't expect people to!

#WildflowerHour #BSBI

I have carried out multiple presentations recently, including a #PintofScience talk about my PhD reserach in May, a #BSBI talk in November focussing on some of my PhD plant research and an #SVP2023 to talk about my research into pelvic girdles of Devonian placoderm fish!
It’s #InvasiveSpeciesWeek, so this week's #WildflowerHour challenge is to find one of those non-native naturalised plants that are proving problematic and post a photo (Sunday 8-9pm) using the hashtag #InvasivePlants.
