This is simultaneously something I've seen many many times (in gardens) and never in my life (in the wild). It appears to be a perfectly normal Broad Bean, except it's not in an allotment or anywhere near one - it was by the pitch at Henley rugby ground. I wonder how it got there. #WildflowerHour #Oxfordshire #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
Common Wintercress growing in the wildflower area of a car park in #Bristol last week. There are quite a lot of #CabbageFamily species with lots of yellow flowers, many of which will grow as weeds in urban areas given the chance. #WildflowerHour #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
I went to #Thursley nature reserve on Saturday morning, mainly because I wanted to see Woodlark (success!) but also to see if any interesting flowers were out. Lousewort has a really odd-looking flower. It specialises in boggy areas like this. #WildflowerHour #Surrey #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography
Garlic Mustard for the #CabbageFamily challenge in this week's #WildflowerHour. This one at Henley Hawks RFC on Saturday, taken while waiting for the game to start. #Henley is in the far corner of #Oxfordshire near the point where it meets both Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography

A nicely lit Cuckoo Pint, Arum maculatum

Had seen no bluebells this year until walking by Natland Beck near Kendal - and there it was, tiny and tender on the damp, grassy bank ๐Ÿ’™ #wildflowerhour
I loved this week's challenge and took a lot of terrible pics of Cardamine spp. I'm also sharing a photo of my Arabidopsis thaliana necklace. It is such a celebrity: the first plant whose genome was sequenced, growing in labs all around the world. There's also an annual conference! #WildflowerHour
Urban botany in Kendal - the trumpet shaped blooms of white comfrey #wildflowerhour
For this weekโ€™s #CabbageFamily challenge in #WildflowerHour some rucola I noticed by the foot of a tree in my neighbourhood.
