Today’s brooch is “Suki the Sugar Glider” by Deer Arrow. Originally started by two clever Queensland sisters, Deer Arrow now includes several other talented designers. Their brooches are often very heavy, as they include many different elements.
Heavy brooches need a special trick to wear on thin materials - instead of pinning directly to your top, pin the brooch through half a cut round foam makeup sponge on the inside of your garment. This supports the weight of the brooch, and also lessens the chance that your precious piece will be lost, as the foam holds the pin securely.

Todays brooch is by Erstwilder, from their recent Vintage Kitchen release, and is called “Spin Me Right Round.
As I love baking, and have fond memories of cooking with both my Nanas, and my Mother, this is one I will be wearing often.

Today's brooch is "Philbert the Fairy Wren", designed and made in Adelaide by Edenki.
Fairy Wrens are a special bird in my family. My Great Aunty Dulcie, the sister my Nana was closest to, absolutely adored them, and I inherited some of her beautifully embroidered linens. Both Nana and Aunty Dulcie planted gardens to attract native birds.
Hearing and seeing the fairy wrens around here is a good sign that there's enough of the trees and cover they like.
