The fun part about #boffer building in mixed company is that most people think the density is equivalent to the firmness of the foam. The firmness of the foam is actually measured with the ILD.

Just got back from a #LARP.
First one I've gone to since the Before Times(tm). Was pretty fun! I can ramble more about it, if y'all want me to.
The long and short of it is, if you're a nerd in the midwest who's up for some light #boffer style adventure, check these guys out. Really friendly and inclusive group, and very welcoming to new players, to the point where they'll even lend you cool boffer swords in the entirely likely event you don't have your own.
Weird. There's loads of stuff online about how foam swords are called "boffers", but nothing that I can see, even on the Wikipedia page, for why they're called that.
And yet, I remember my brother and I having #Boffer branded swords which were sculpted white foam with embedded plastic handles, way back around 1980, give or take a year or two. I can find no reference to the brand online though.
