TuonelAs I try to decide where I sit on the new edition of #WarhammerUnderworlds I tried playing my WHU warbands as #Bladeborn in #Warcry.
I absolutely loved it.
I decided to use the warbands that started my WHU journey, Stormsire's Cursebreakers and Thorns of the Briar Queen from #Nightvault.
Playing the Cursebreakers in Warcry was the first time they've felt true to their fluff to me. Amazing flavorful ability plays. Thorns held up well too.
Highly recommend playing Bladeborn matches.
In the next battle, the Godsworn Hunt tried to win their own convergence challenge: "Worthy Prey" (enemies +2♥️). They drew the artifact Ironoak Seed (1 fighter +1🛡️). The Battle pan was Vanquish (2 fighters designated "battleline", victory is when both are downed). The twist was "Cold Snap" (1/6 chance of -3♥️ if model doesn't move when activated). Here is the initial deployment. Battleline fighters in the center.

I haven't found time to play yet but I like the look of the dice multiples mechanic when rolling initiative and I think I finally understand the dagger, shield, and hammer.
Will break out the kids' old wood blocks for terrain. I love the idea of having multiple ways to play the same models. 4/4
Dalle Carceri HAS MOVED!My LGS was selling the "Garrek's Reavers" warband used. They can be used in #Bladeborn so I just bought them on sight. Bladeborn is a "#Warcry in a box" game that I have found plays reasonably well solo.
So, having played a bit of #Bladeborn now, here is how I think it compares to #Warcry:
The good:
* It is much easier to set up, take down, store, get going. It also has a smaller footprint on the table. As a portable skirmish game, it does the job fantastically.
* The tactical depth is quite similar, so the base game fun of the Warcry rules is for sure there.
Fourth solo #Bladeborn game in the campaign. This time the Ravagers actually managed to pass their Fatal Test convergence and win the Desecrator Gauntlets. The Howling Winds twist was brutal for the Hunt, as it forced them to reroll ranged hits. The battle was about controlling objectives, which the Ravagers won 7-4. But the Hunt very successfully used the Enfeeble spell, and Grundann earned the favour of the Chaos gods by spectacularly taking down both Khagra and Zarshia.
