Sub-adult Mute Swan with Parent.
The grey baby feathers have given way to the brown sub-adult plumage, and he is already nearly full-sized. The other members of his brood had the white sub-adult plumage, and could have been mistaken for adults if their bills were more saturated. Apparently, it's not me who thinks so! Semipalmated Plover at Dusk
I came across a flock of plovers when my camera was struggling to let in the last remaining specks of light. After taking this photograph, I watched them forage for food until they were silhouettes, then just small movements in the darkness. Apparently, their bedtime is after mine.

American Oystercatcher looking flattered to have her portrait taken. I am actually not positive that she is, in fact, female- I just dislike referring to other living things as "it." She/he was warning flockmates that an unpredictable species- a human- was within sight!
