#SundayStroll around #Binfield and the sad sight of the decaying paddle steamer the #PSRyde
I vaguely remember her as a nightclub back in the late 80s during my first stint of living on the Island.
She was used as a minesweeper and anti aircraft vessel during the war. Primarily though as a passenger ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde.
Despite her demise there is still something special about her. #RydeQueen

There’s an old inn along the Forest Road. It’s called the Stag and Hounds.
They say it’s more than six hundred years old, and that Henry VIII and Elizabeth I used it as a hunting lodge.
If you believe what they say, the Stag and Hounds marks the exact centre of the old forest.

#Walk this afternoon near #Binfield in leafy, sunny #Berkshire - lengthening shadows and slanting but warm sun. Some lines of #AlexanderPope, who lived around here, come to mind:
'The skies yet blushing with departing light/
When falling dews with spangles deck'd the glade/
And the low sun had lengthen'd ev'ry shade'.
