Not appreciated enough therapeutic effect of talking to #beauticians #manicurists and #hairdressers. I'm waiting in line and unwillingly hearing the support a young beautician gives to an older lady preparing for some nasty court case with a villain of a man (getting it from context, without many details). I also notice it in customer service I work in how much of a person's attitude towards their day you can change by your attitude towards them.

Years ago I watched a tv documentary about " #Beauticians Without Borders" going to #Afghanistan to teach women. I sniggered: What can they do? They need nurses not beauticians. They already know beauty treatments! It turned out, beautician was the only career open to Afghan women - they go to each other's homes, it's private & female-only: they provided them with the only possible female income.
