Maybe we will see the Bakerloo extension to Lewisham and onwards to Hayes via Lower Sydenham in our kids lifetime. But possibly earlier you will be able to do it overground. No, not the 'Overground' but TfL proposed 'Bakerloop express' buses from the Elephant to Lewisham following the same route and stops.

A spooky South London tunnel that was once part of rail links from Nunhead to Crystal Palace has long since been forgotten and overgrown . Crescent Wood, also known locally as Upper Sydenham tunnel, is a 400-yard tunnel which was built in 1884. It had been suggested that the line could be adopted by the Bakerloo line for its planned expansion into South London.
