2017 haben wir eine #FinnishBabyBox gekauft. Sie enthielt Babysachen und -zubehör für die ersten Monate und konnte mit der mitgelieferten dünnen Matratze und Laken auch als Bettchen verwendet werden (wo das Kind natürlich nie wirklich drin geschlafen hat, weil es sofort anfing zu krähen, wenn es in die Waagerechte ging). Leider ist die schöne Box im Keller der letzten Wohnung verschimmelt und wir mussten sie wegtun. Ich war echt traurig, denn eigentlich wollte ich sie noch als Erinnerungsbox fürs Kind aufheben.
Das staatliche Original aus #Finnland wird bereits seit 1949 kostenlos an alle Mütter herausgegeben, vorausgesetzt, sie gehen zur Vorsorge. Dadurch konnte wahrscheinlich sogar die Kindersterblichkeit im Land gesenkt werden. Mittlerweile gibt es weltweit ähnliche Programme und viele kommerzielle Anbieter, die solche Boxen gegen ordentlich Geld in alle Welt versenden.

In 2017, we bought a Finnish Baby Box. It came with baby clothes and accessories for the first months and doubled as a baby bed thanks to the thin mattress and sheet included. (Of course, kiddo never actually slept in it because they'd start crying the second you tried to lay them down.) Sadly, the beautiful box went mouldy in the basement of our last flat, and I had to throw it out. I was gutted because I'd meant to keep it as a memory box for kiddo.
The original Finnish maternity package has been given to all new mums in #Finland for free since 1949, provided they visited a prenatal clinic. This likely helped reduce infant mortality in the country. Now, similar programmes exist worldwide, and there are several commercial providers that ship boxes such as ours all over the world for a pretty penny.
