I was today years old when I learned about #Asterisk's TALK_DETECT() function.
Enable it in your dialplan (with `Set(TALK_DETECT(set)=)`, and you'll get AMI/ARI events whenever Asterisk detects a transition between silence and talking (or vice versa) on a channel.

Hey #asterisk and #PSTN nerds, does anybody know of a way of selectivly denying calls based on what CLEC an incoming caller belongs to? Looking to deny calls coming from a specific VOIP provider that is spam/scammy. Ex: 617-516-7000 listed under https://www.npanxxsource.com/ is T-Mobile for the carrier
Yes, I know numbers can be ported around, I don't care about that level of granularity.
New version of #Asterisk fixes a remote crash (and maybe RCE!) in STIR/SHAKEN header parsing: CVE-2025-49832
