AGI - Jannik Sinner ha battuto Alexander Zverev in due set, 6-3, 7-6, e si è qualificato per la finale del Masters 1000 di Miami. Domani alle 21 ora italiana sfiderà il ceco Jiri Lehecka che ha battuto il francese Arthur Fils nell'altra semifinale con un doppio 6-2.
L'azzurro numero due del mondo si è imposto in un'ora e 53 minuti in una gara ben giocata dal tedesco, molto potente e preciso nel servizio, ma che ha visto Sinner prevalere nei momenti decisivi, compreso uno smash mandato a rete dal tedesco sul 4-4 nel tie-break. Sinner ha vinto 32 set consecutivi in tornei Masters 1000: un record storico senza precedenti.
Terza finale a Miami
È alla sua terza finale a Miami dopo il ko del 2021 e il trionfo del 2023. Per l'azzurro nella sua 35ma finale Atp c'è la possibilità di centrare il suo primo 'Sunshine double' dopo il trionfo a Indian Wells. Un successo lo avvicinerebbe ulteriormente a Carlos Alcaraz in vetta al ranking. Sinner ha ottenuto l'ottavo successo in 12 sfide contro Zverev: "È stata una partita molto dura", ha commentato il numero due del mondo, "Zverev ha giocato un tennis incredibile. Io ho servito molto bene alla fine, soprattutto nei momenti cruciali. Sono molto contento, questa finale significa molto per me".
Ora Lehecka
L'avversario in finale sarà Jiri Lehecka, che non ha mai vinto un set nei tre precedenti confronti diretti. "È un giocatore incredibile", ha sottolineato Sinner, "lo ha dimostrato non solo qui, ma durante tutta la sua carriera. In finale giocherà sicuramente più libero di me. Cercherò di controllare tutto ciò che posso, poi vedremo come andrà".
"Indian Wells e Miami mi sembrano due tornei completamente diversi, con condizioni differenti", ha spiegato, "arrivare qui cercando di esprimere un buon tennis era il mio obiettivo principale, e ritrovarmi di nuovo in finale significa davvero molto per me. Ovviamente cercheremo di spingere ancora per un paio di giorni, ma e' stato in ogni caso uno swing incredibile. Non avrei potuto fare meglio. Quindi sono molto felice".

Sinner defeats Zverev, Miami final with Lehecka

ATP – Jannik Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev in two sets, 6-3, 7-6, and qualified for the final of the Miami Masters 1000. Tomorrow at 9 PM Italian time he will face the Czech Jiri Lehecka who defeated the French Arthur Fils in the other semi-final with a double 6-2.

The number two Italian player imposed himself in one hour and 53 minutes in a well-played match by the German, very powerful and precise in serve, but which saw Sinner prevail in the decisive moments, including an ace sent into the net by the German at 4-4 in the tie-break. The opponent in the final will be Jiri Lehecka, who has never won a set in the three previous direct encounters. “He is an incredible player,” Sinner emphasized, “he has demonstrated it not only here, but throughout his entire career. In the final he will certainly play more freely than me. I will try to control everything that I can, then we’ll see how it goes.”

“Indian Wells and Miami seem to me two completely different tournaments, with different conditions,” he explained, “arriving here trying to express good tennis was my main objective, and finding myself back in the final means a lot to me really. Of course, we will try to push for a couple of more days, but in any case it has been an incredible swing. I couldn't have done better. So I’m very happy.”
