Strontium-90 (Sr-90) and cesium-137 (Cs-137) are radioactive isotopes that didn’t exist before the 1940s. In art forensics, if a painting claimed to be from before 1945 contains trace amounts of these isotopes in the paint or other materials used in the artwork, it strongly suggests it’s a forgery.
