Tasting fallen apples from a tree I grafted different varieties onto last year. Not sure if the names, but one of them is clearly Egremont Russet. Even 2-3 weeks before they're normally harvested, the aroma is much higher than you normally get from store bought apples - like apple porridge or medlar with warm spices (cinnamon, clove etc). I love crispiness, but modern apple cultivars have sacrificed a lot of aroma, I think many of them are really boring to eat! #apples #egremontrusset #applevarieties #applebreeding #grafting #fruit
