Okay, got a truly niche question for you, hive mind!

How would you suggest someone who doesn't have mental images (#aphantsia #aphant) create a safe space in their mind to go to while doing #emdrtherapy #EMDR

Is it possible that the an #aphant would build the same 'image' in the brain but that image is not passed to the visual processor so it can't been 'seen'?
I know that you don't always 'see' everything. if you move the head or eyes to look at an off centre field object what you see is the object move into centre vision directly, it does not. The eyes use a 'pass and return' servo. They move rapidly, see the target as they pass it and then return to centre it.

TIL the word aphantasia which is a condition I have. I discovered it was not "normal" a few years ago while discussing with my wife about our reading experiences, but did not know the name.

Aphantasia - Wikipedia

Yes. I’d always assumed I was overly sentimental - probably because someone told me I was and I believed them *but* having learned as a wifie that I’m adhd autistic and aphantasic I know there’s more to it than just having fond memories of things.

Feeling sorry for considering giving the item away means I sometimes apologise and just put in back in the same place.

I do also keep a lot as they serve as visuals that I don’t naturally recall #aphantasia #aphant

As an #aphant, the most ridiculous part of having a lead meditation is "imagine a peaceful clearing in the woods" ... Thanks πŸ˜‚ 😭
