Vanderbilt biochemists are part of a team taking a stride toward the development of antibacterials to treat uncomplicated urinary tract infections, a pervasive bacterial infection that affects 50%–60% of women in their lifetime.

My doctor asked me if I was comfortable taking antibiotics and I immediately started monologuing about how to weigh the costs and benefits of contributing to the rise of drug-resistant bacteria and superbugs but it turns out she just wanted to know if I was okay maybe getting diarrhea.
