I started reading this article in a sort of "abominable fancy" mode, as one will from time to time, but then it screeched to a halt:

"...it is true that experts generally recommend against reusing plastic water bottles... more because the bottles can accumulate harmful bacteria over time than because of the plastic itself (microplastics, unlike structured water, are a genuine phenomenon, but their health effects are still being studied)."

So, this manufactured material accumulating in our brains, genitals, breasts, pets, food, and neighbors might be okay, you say? Let's not be hasty - let's wait for all the evidence to come in?

Now of course Gizmodo wrote this in the finest tradition of tribalism - everything my enemy says must be false - but in this case, with regard to microplastics, we've reached one of those magical times that comes twice in every twenty-four hour period when the stopped clock gets it right.

(We don't drink from new *or* used plastic bottles. Glass or stainless steel only, please! That said, the house sediment filter is plastic and I've not found a solution for that yet, and of course the pipes present challenges of their own.)
