When she ran for governor in 1990 she was WAY behind in the polls behind her opponent #Republican energy baron Clayton Williams.

Then just a few weeks before the election, Wlms was caught "joking" to a friend that he didn't understand why women are so terrified of being #raped:

"If the #rape is inevitable, just lie back and enjoy it", he quipped.

Outraged Republican women showed up en masse to give Richards the win. #misogyny
