I have a disability that affects my ability to type. I *do* understand that not everyone has the ability or spoons to provide alt text.

One can decide to skip the image entirely if one is low on spoons.

One can use the hashtag #AltText4Me to request that some kind person provide some for you, which you can then edit the image to put in there.

But the majority of missing alt text or captions instead of alt text in the Fediverse is due to other reasons. I hope these tips can help.
